Jacque Bermejo’s Evil Laugh in Bagyong Ondoy

Jacque Bermejo interview in ABS-CBN (TFC) – Video

(new update: click here)

I was busy spreading a blogpost containing the drop-off centers for the Victims of Bagyong Ondoy here in Cebu until a friend of mine buzzed me in Facebook asking if I heard or knew a person shouting in her facebook account about her thought regarding the typhoon Ondoy.

I was very curious of what it was all about. My friend gave me a multiply link and so I directly visited it. The account was flooded with negative comments. I was confused because in the first place I did not see any post or blog that might be the cause of the flooding comments – take note, still growing! Imagine, 16thousand plus comments?! Hmmmmm…

I tried to scan the account if  anything there was posted but nothing I was able to see. And so I started to read the thousands of comments and fortunately I found a facebook link. Clicking it, I was navigated to a page showing a snapshot account the Jacque Bermejo with her shoutout and some replies.

The Brother’s Official Statement ( from http://thegossiper.typepad.com)

ok! it all started sa Friendster last year 2008, my sister told me that her account was hacked by someone mad at her prolly inggit or may galit… she really doesn’t know or what’s the reason why she has been hacked, of corse she’s pissed off because this person keeps messing up her friendster profile. So, hinayaan lang ng sister ko yun, since wala nmn xang alam sa social networking or kung ano man, she’s a working woman na at wala xang panahon magfriendster.

Ngayon naman this issue has been spreading about her posting such harsh words:
“buti n lg am hir in dubai maybe so many sinners bak der!so year deerving wat happend!”

Ang ate ko hindi ganyan kung magenglish, edukada sister ko at nag graduate sa UP. We came from a PROVINCE and part of a political family. Hindi basta basta si ate jack magpopost na magsisira sa family name namin. Dumaan din kami sa hirap, at for your information binagyo din ang lugar namin, TATLONG BESES. Why in the world will my ate as a filipino disgrace our family and citizen, sana po wag muna kayo manghusga.

Hintayin lang po sana ung explaination, for she doesn’t have internet nor load right now, its around 3am-4am at dubai, and I have hard times contacting her myself.

Jacqueline Bermejo’s Official Statement (posted by Emily Estorninos in facebook)

I am issuing this statement to clear my name in the current controversy in which I allegedly posted a highly insensitive and offensive message on the social networking website, Facebook, in relation to the victims of typhoon Ondoy that recently struck parts of the Philippines.

About two years ago, an anonymous source created these accounts using my identity, posting my personal details, my real pictures captioned roughly and attacking other people. Because of these incidents, I reported such abuses and sent my credentials to the administrators of such sites, particularly Facebook. I have been abused and am still being abused online in social networking websites such as Facebook, Friendster, Multiply etc.

In the early stages, I was advised by close friends to ignore the situation, saying this would simply go away. Unfortunately, it has not stopped. Hence, I filed a complaint with the Dubai Police about eight months ago hoping they could help me with my problem. Should anyone wish to check my statement, my case is still under investigation with said authorities.

Time passed and these sites continued to generate malicious, obscene and cruel messages that are widely exposed and relayed to the public under my name.

Yesterday, September 27th 2009, I received phone calls from my close friends regarding very alarming posts in the above mentioned websites that directly offended flood victims as a result of typhoon Ondoy..

These malicious statement(s) which are posted under account names Jacque or Jackie are not of my doing. It is unfortunate that such statements were maliciously attributed to me and I do sympathize and understand the adverse and somehow verbally violent reaction that has been elicited by such insensitive statements or posts. Rest assured, I have taken every legal step that can be done in this regard.

I too, have become a victim as much as those who may have lost their lives and properties to such a devastating natural calamity. This recent controversy has greatly affected my reputation, my family, and my friends. I am devastated and shocked at the extent my character, my personal information and private space have been violated.

I have a deep respect and regard for my country. I am proud to be a Filipino and would never say or do anything to harm the interest of my country or countrymen. I have also had the privilege of participating in civic-oriented activities in Dubai, particularly in trying to help my fellow countrymen seek employment during the height of mass layoffs brought about by the ongoing global financial crisis, as well as those seeking employment for the first time. Making a mockery of any unfortunate incidents befalling any of my fellow Filipinos is simply contrary to my character. I condemn the person or persons behind these malicious acts to impute damage on my integrity and I hope that you can dig deep into your hearts and minds to truly find the truth in all these.

Jacque Bermejo interviewed by ABS-CBN

A LETTER IS BEING FORWARDED TO JACQUE BERMEJO’S DUBAI BOSS ABOUT HER “undisgraceful public conduct (from Mary Ann Subido[facebook user])

Robeen R. Kobeen
Head of Design – Operational Partner
CasaPrestrige
robeen@casaprestige.ae

Dear Mr. Kobeen,

A group of concerned Filipino citizens would like to inform you about the disgraceful public conduct of one of your employees, Jacqueline Bermejo. While we are in no way directly associated or remotely acquainted with Jacqueline, a viral detestation of her character as a person has been made apparent to thousands of people around the world, ourselves included. This enmity has driven the public and the press to know who Jacqueline is–where she came from, where she lives, where she works–inevitably leading them to CasaPrestige.

The day the Philippines was hit by Typhoon Ketsana (local typhoon name Ondoy), resulting in massive flooding and the loss of human lives and thousands of homes, Jacqueline made an irreverent public remark on a Filipino FaceBook community page (screencap here), saying and we quote “buti n lng am hir in dubai! maybe so many sinners bak der! so yeah deserving wat hapend!”. Roughly translated and improved upon, it can be understood as, ‘It’s a good thing I’m here in Dubai . There might be a lot of sinners back there [ Philippines ]. So yeah, they deserved what happened”.

We are not requesting that any actions of dismissal or reprimand be done on your part, as this matter is strictly unassociated with your business or how Jacqueline conducts herself at work. But her gross and public slur, lack of sensitivity and propriety, and not to mention her blatant recklessness, are qualities unfitting of someone in her role and position as an officer; and although it is irrelevant to the purpose of this letter, her grasp of the English language as a public relations practitioner seems rather questionable. Also, we believe you have the right to know about the matter, as we fear her hate speech toward her own countrymen currently suffering from a calamity will undoubtedly create a negative impression on CasaPrestige and the values the company represents.

On behalf of all Filipinos and supporters and to those who have come to know CasaPrestige as Jacqueline Bermejo’s employer, we thank you for taking the time to read this letter and we hope that your company remains unaffected by this scandal.

Sincerely yours,
Concerned Filipino Citizens

Nobody really knows if she did or she didn’t do it except JB herself. The only way to explore this objectively is to take her personal PC or work PC and investigate in whether she accessed these accounts previously/recently. But of course, nobody would do that because it is too fiddly and costly. And besides, there are more important things in life than invstigate on a JB, who may either be a complete lunatic or an innocent lamb.

I only have a few things running in my mind that are left unanswered:
    - Maybe she is not telling a very important detail here. Maybe she shared her passwords with another person (someone very close). Then they fell out, thus this revenge.
    - Maybe she really did someone something wrong. A big one that came with a big revenge.
    - Like what others were saying, if this was a hacker, then why did he/she deleted the accounts? Did the hacker felt contented? Or maybe he/she became worried that he/she might be tracked?
    - Where are the proofs of complaints to FB? Multiply? FS? And also, how can someone ‘hack’ all her accounts?
    - I don’t know is you will agree with me, FB is one of the most secure sites I’ve ever used. With one wrong move, it routinely asks for my password.

So, I am confused myself on who to believe her. But again, it is hard to give JB the benefit of the doubt at this stage… cruel, but there you go!

  • pusang-kalye

sana nga lang totoo na nahack lang account nya—maintindihan ko pa kasi kung ibang nationality ang tumitibak satin—sana nga lang we are one as Filipinos esp. in situations like this…..

….with this RUDE Korean….mamamatay din sya!!!!!!

If she is innocent then I suggest she should do something radical and drastic to turn the raging tide of anger of the Filipinos, may I suggest she take a leave from her job come back here and prove her innocence or better yet go to the disaster areas and personally help the victims otherwise she will still be branded a lying, lowlife and insensitive bitch!

  • kurdapya

and yeah….why would JB say sorry if it was not her who posted such insensitive comments on FB? That would only mean she is guilty…but she claims she is not…
Let’s not judge her without really hearing her side.

  • kurdapya

We should not be judgmental without hearing JB’s side. As you can see in the letter trying to clear her name, she is very fluent in English (unlike the malicious postings on FB posing as her). She states some unknown person created accounts on FB, multiply, etc., with her personal details and photos (meaning, she did not create those accounts, so they were NEVER HACKED, because the person who created these accounts under her name had the right password. It was only JB’s brother who interpreted it as a hacked account when JB said the incident started 2 years ago).
I would have wanted to see her actual interview, but abs-cbn did not have the time (???how did that happen?). If she comes out in a video speaking fluently in English and showing some documents proving her innocence, those should suffice to quiet down the rage of the Filipinos who reacted to the said FB postings and jumped to conclusions.
It might be true that she is innocent, and is now the victim of the malicious wrongdoing of some jealous Pinay. These social internet sites can do such damages to a person’s life. There have already been those who committed suicide because of such personal attacks. If JB is innocent and loses everything in her life (one group wrote a letter to JB’s employer) because of this event, then later on commits suicide, what then?…

  • Enitsirk

its so sad that a Filipino will do this kind of thing, i don’t care if other foreigners will say they don’t know what Filipino can do and will do but this girl who ever she is have the guts to insult what is happening to us.

  • jdr

marami na rumesbak sa gagang koreana na yan… poser yan guys! wag nyo resbakan si kim yubin kc hindi nya account un..

  • benildean

    may karma ka din!
    biglang kambyo ka ngayong maraming
    nagreact biglang ganyan! plastic monkey!

  • jdr

hey that woman is a poser!.. i believe she’s also one of those evil minded human

who uses another identity to ruin one’s reputation… cause as you can see

she’s using a picture of kim yubin (from the group wondergirls)

i hope filipino people wont say such things to kim yubin

and for Jacque B. hmmm im still upset.. she didnt even say sorry…

and i want it to be a public statement not an online statement!

  • d3am0n

A hole ka talaga ! ikaw iyong sinner , sinugaling pa reasoning mo . ! AHOLE KA.

(i deleted this part right here…. admin)

  • tinna

    i totally agree

  • penny

I have to agree with you.

  • Dick Diggler

“I reported such abuses and sent my credentials to the administrators of such sites, particularly Facebook. I have been abused and am still being abused online in social networking websites such as Facebook, Friendster, Multiply etc.”…
“…Should anyone wish to check my statement, my case is still under investigation with said authorities.”

    Jacque or Jackie.

I have quoted your statement above. Sadly the burden to show proof of your innocence rests on your shoulders and you should not be directing us to the administrators of the networking sites you posted above to clear your name.
Since 2008 your identity has been used by someone else as you’ve mentioned, then I presume you have proof on hand of this wrong doing.

  • Beejing

Oh well, I think it’s better not to take sides. We shouldn’t hate her (if ever she did it) because if we dom, that would make us her equal.

  • Don Paulo M. Villareal

Pasalamat si jacque di ko nakita account nya. Dapat sa kanya nililibing ng buhay.

    • http://markg87.net/ admin

multiply account niya cancelled nah.. ahehehh!

  • http://icyrascal.multiply.com Icyrascal

hey mark, so the multiply account was already deleted… no hacker would delete such remarkable flood of comments… and even multiply says that the account was cancelled… so yeah… now we really know… :)

    • http://markg87.net mark

visited it also… it was cancelled! hmmmmmmmm… without even a word of her… waaaaaaaaaaa…..

  • jepoy

    She’s sick!……….

  • Tiffny

thanks for the much more detailed article on the events that led to the hate page. I was quite confuse in the beginning as to what the commotion was all about when my friend posted this on her page, and like you, i couldnt find the starting point, until i saw your link..and now i know.

She’s a sad little being. She should have just kept her feelings to herself coz she’s now damned. I am away from the country too right now but i was so worried when i heard of the flash flood and had to make sure all the family and friends of mine are all ok back home and i feel devastated for the rest of the filipinos who are still stranded or lost their home and try to reach out as much as i could and she dare say stuff like this. She’s just lame.

    • charlyn mariano

sana lang hindi kasama ang pamilya niya sa nasalanta ng bagyo… let’s pray for her na lang… may our good Lord bless her and her family…

  • http://icyrascal.multiply.com Icyrascal

thanks for the credit… nice article by the way

I do not believe that her account was hacked. I guess we should be careful of what we post in our accounts, especially with what happened to our fellow countrymen.

    • icee

nah lets not judge her u guys. ive been hacked three times but luckily none of those were posted.anyway lets just give her the “BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT” she may have or may have not posted that message but comparison and contrast to her statement which was with regard the typhoon ondoy and her statement saying sorry, there was a difference..just check it and compare u might know what i mean.im not saying that she did not do it or she did it but then again who are we to judge her??she’s human, im human and hell you guys are also human..remember the line “HUMAN ARE BORN TO MAKE MISTAKES”..
