Yahoo Alert! So Annoying!
Several times I was able to receive messages from “Yahoo Account Service”. I tried to ignore it, but it pissed me off. The message keeps on alerting me by intruding my mailbox.
I tried to read its content:
Due to the congestion in all Yahoo users and removal of all unused Yahoo Accounts ,Yahoo would be shutting down all unused Accounts,You will have to confirm your E-mail by filling out your Login Info below after clicking the reply button, or your account will be suspended within 24 hours for security reasons.
After Following the instructions in the sheet, your account will be interrupted and will continue as normal. Thanks for your attention to this request. We apoligize for any incomvinience.
I got panicked the first time I was able to read its content! Come on! My very personal account eversince I was in elementary is going to be deleted by not replying and responding to this sh*t-ALERT?!
I can’t afford to loose it honestly. It is my important email account. So what I did, I clicked the reply button which navigated me to the compose page.
And you know what’s shocking?
User Name: :………………………………….
Password:………………………………….
Date Of Birth:…………………………………..
Country Or Territory:………………………..
I have to fill that fields above! PASSWORD!? The h*ll!!! Why would they ask for the password when they have all the data in their database? I started to smell something fishy, Something is not right here.

When I look at the recepient field (servicesssss@live.com).
Why would they use other email services the fact that they have their own? Hmmmmm…..
I was totally shocked! Good thing i was able to glance for it first before I was able to send it.
I guess, I am not the sole victim here.
The nerve of these people behind this idiot thing!
Be aware guys! Don’t be a victim. They will just steal our account.
LOSER you people!
Hacking yahoo account!

I’ve received this message too… two times actually. It’s odd that they have to suspend an account that you’ve been using everyday. I have at least two e-mails with Yahoo that I don’t use very often, and yet those accounts didn’t receive the message. Plus they’re asking for personal information…
Those scammers need to do something worthwhile with their lives… X(
DaMn ScaMmers Indeed!
Whew, glad you were able to find out they weren’t for real! Pft, as for me mine was scarier because it was a decoy of paypal saying i need to activate my account with a bank account. But of course I managed to avoid it. It makes me even more scared of going online now :S But I guess wherever we go there is danger. Just better be careful. These guys don’t have hobbies in life (@_@)
i have the same mSg from PAypal “kunu” something related to youRs. ill be posting it as my new bloG poSt ..
If this was sent to me, I’ll just laugh…
Even if i says it’s from noreply@yahoo.com or anywhere.
Just by the message alone. Tahaha
Yahoo.com!? Yahoo Mail!? Best Web Based Mail!? Secure Site!? yet doesn’t know how to use spell check nor sentence construction!?!?!?!? Come on! thahaha. If one of their Staffs send that Notice he would be long gone by now. Thahaha
I didn’t mean to say I’m good at it but it doen’t take a genius to see that…

i received the same email pero once lang. and just like you, i got confused why they were asking for the password. obviously it was a hoax as the sender’s address has yahoo extension on it, something like customerservice@yahoo.com. i thought anybody could make that email address. it should have been a more generic addy from yahoo (parang mala-2366 ng globe).
very nice post, btw!

Great post, Mark! You are one of those campaigning against identity thefts… I recall when I received same message last summer, which prompted me to write a simple instruction on how to identify phishing e-mail. Some may not be techy, but something you could learn on this post: http://www.cite-technologian.com/2009/05/how-to-identify-phising-e-mail.html will put your identity on the web safe…
